System Of A Down and Deftones are teaming for a two-week summer tour that kicks off on Aug. 2 in Philadelphia.
For System Of A Down, the upcoming trek represents their first extended U.S. tour since reuniting last year — in 2011, SOAD played a handful of West Coast dates in between shows in Europe and South America. While fans anxiously await System’s first album since 2005’s “Hypnotize,” frontman Serj Tankian will release his third solo effort, “Harakiri,” on July 10 on Reprise Records/Serjical Strike.
Meanwhile, Deftones are currently banging out their seventh album in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz, and hope to finish the effort for release later this year. Their previous full-length, 2010’s “Diamond Eyes,” has sold 228,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
