Finally, it’s here: after a full week of teasing through the use of subtle online clues, brief videos and a giant friggin’ highway billboard, the new Deftones song, “Ohms,” has arrived! If you wanna get technical about it, the band have been teasing this moment for nearly two years.
“Ohms” is the title track of the band’s new album, which will arrive on September 25. Give it a spin below and let us know what you think in the comments.
Frontman Chino Moreno recently said that guitarist Stephen Carpenter was much more “engaged” this time around than on their 2016 album, Gore, with drummer Abe Cunningham adding that “Stephen’s guitar tone is so damn thick” on the lead single. Carpenter had said about the previous album that he “wasn’t too interested” in the material the other band members brought to the table, explaining “It wasn’t the style or the sound I was hoping we would take. It wasn’t what I was expecting or wanting.”
Deftones had a summer tour planned with Gojira and Poppy, but that was rescheduled to 2021 in light of the ongoing pandemic.
